The Project Logistics Specialist will manage project logistics and lead logistics activities to fulfill deliverables, while meeting contractual requirements. The project logistics specialist will develop strategies to optimize efficiency and reduce costs, while maintaining focus on customer satisfaction. They will be responsible for estimating project logistics budget, tracking costs, and maintaining appropriate metrics. The Project Logistics Specialist will work directly with logistics leadership to identify volume projections, risks, and opportunities for future improvement. Additional tasks to be required, as needed, to support the business strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Take the lead on project logistics scope, working directly with project management team to develop a delivery plan that will meet contractual guidelines.

  • Work and communicate directly with our customers during the planning and execution stage of projects, serving as the logistics subject matter expert.

  • Create required shipping documentation and maintain accurate records for revenue recognition and financial auditing.

  • Develop project logistics budget, track actual spend, and identify reasons for discrepancy in spend against projected budget.

  • Support sales team during commercial phase of project with cost and logistics cycles for accurate commercial proposals.

  • Maximize efficiency and drive down cost for each project using planning skills and strategic negotiating.

  • Engage internal and external resources as needed to ensure logistics compliance and safety.

  • Track and report on-time delivery metrics to Logistics Senior Manager.

  • Support logistics team with continuous improvement goals and strategies.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to work independently and track multiple processes.

  • Computer-savvy with a working knowledge of logistics software (ERP/TMS).

  • Must have extensive knowledge and experience in managing domestic transportation, including heavy haul and project cargo.

  • Experience with international logistics preferred.

  • Talent for recognizing and documenting opportunities for process improvement.

  • Exceptional communication and decision-making skills required.

  • Ability to travel as needed (minimal).

​Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Bachelor's degree in logistics or related field preferred.

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience.

  • Hazmat Certified preferred.

  • Working knowledge of legal regulations and logistics compliance.

  • Overnight/North America: Less than 10%

Working Conditions

  • Office Environment - Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time and occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. Required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading. May be required to exert up to 25 pounds of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.

  • Factory - The worker may be subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, vibration, moving vehicles, electrical current, exposure to temperature changes or exposure to chemicals. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, odors, dust, mists, and gases. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. Required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes. Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, work boots, and lab coats. May be required to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.

  • Customer/Partner Locations – Employee may visit customer or partner locations that may be comprised of office, manufacturing floor, laboratory environments and construction sites depending on the location and reason for visit.
