The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), located at the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in Golden, Colorado, is the nation’s primary laboratory for research and development of renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies. The Environment, Safety, Health, and Quality (ESHQ) Department supports mission performance and operational excellence while stewarding a safe working environment for all employees at NREL.
NREL’s intern program provides a diverse opportunity for students and recent graduates. In addition to mentorship and real, hands-on experience, students and recent graduates will participate in professional development activities that will help strengthen their technical and professional skills. As an intern in the ESHQ Industrial Hygiene (IH) Programs group at NREL, you will play a vital role providing industrial hygiene support for numerous areas of cutting-edge research across the laboratory.
The successful candidate will be planning and conducting IH surveys using a variety of IH instrumentation under the guidance of senior industrial hygienists. The applicants should be knowledgeable in all forms of industrial hygiene hazards, their metrics, and corresponding controls, including but not limited to acoustic hazards, chemical hazards, radiation hazards (both ionizing and non-ionizing), and physical hazards.
