Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Treasurer to join our finance leadership team at esVolta. The Treasurer will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company’s treasury operations, including cash management, liquidity optimization, capital structure management, risk management, and debt financing. The Treasurer will work closely with the Director of Structured Finance, who leads all structured debt and tax equity executions, to drive the company’s financing strategy.

The Treasurer and Director of Structured Finance will form a key partnership, ensuring alignment across the treasury and structured finance functions, managing debt and equity financing, and supporting the company’s high-growth strategy, particularly in scaling its portfolio of utility-scale energy storage projects.
As esVolta is a high-growth, dynamic company in the energy storage sector, the ideal candidate for the Treasurer role will bring deep expertise in treasury management and capital markets, with a focus on strategic collaboration and ensuring optimal capital allocation across a growing project portfolio.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Cash and Liquidity Management:
  • Oversee the company’s cash management strategy, ensuring adequate liquidity to support operational needs and capital projects.
  • Develop and manage cash flow forecasts, working closely with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment of liquidity needs with debt and equity capital inflows.
  • Monitor daily cash positions and manage short-term funding needs, ensuring efficient use of available capital across the business.
  1. Capital Structure & Financing Strategy:
  • Lead the company’s efforts in optimizing its capital structure, balancing debt, equity, and tax equity investments, in close collaboration with the CFO and Director of Structured Finance.
  • Partner with the Director of Structured Finance to execute debt financing, tax equity transactions, and other complex capital structures for the company’s growing project portfolio.
  • Evaluate and manage the cost of capital, optimizing the company’s access to debt and equity markets.
  1. Debt & Structured Finance Execution:
  • Work with the Director of Structured Finance to execute structured debt and tax equity transactions for large-scale projects, including the negotiation, structuring, and documentation of financing arrangements.
  • Partner with the Director of Structured Finance to create tailored financing solutions for individual projects, including tax equity, project bonds, and other capital market instruments.
  • Support the company’s long-term capital strategy, ensuring debt and equity financing is aligned with the company’s strategic goals.
  1. Risk Management:
  • Lead the company’s treasury risk management strategy, working with senior leadership to mitigate financial risks related to interest rates, currencies, commodities, and other financial exposures.
  • Lead the company’s development of hedging strategies for managing market fluctuations that could impact project financing or returns.
  • Ensure that risk management strategies are aligned with the company’s overall business objectives and regulatory requirements.
  1. Collaboration with Structured Finance Team:
  • The Treasurer and Director of Structured Finance will work in close partnership to execute and optimize financing strategies. This includes coordinating on the structuring of debt, tax equity transactions, and complex project financing.
  • Ensure seamless integration between treasury operations and structured finance functions, working together to align financing strategies with the company’s growth, capital needs, and project milestones.
  1. Strategic Financial Planning & Analysis:
  • Collaborate with the CFO, Director of FP&A, and finance team to provide financial analysis and input on capital deployment and financing needs for current and future projects.
  • Develop detailed financial models and forecasts, in conjunction with the Director of Structured Finance, to evaluate project financing requirements and capital structure options.
  • Work across teams to ensure financial strategies are aligned with the company’s long-term growth objectives and operational plans.
  1. Leadership & Team Development:
  • Lead the treasury team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture that supports the company’s expanding operations.
  • Work closely with the Director of Structured Finance and senior leadership to ensure cross-functional alignment, drive efficiencies, and optimize the company’s financing structure.
  • Mentor and develop team members within both the treasury and structured finance teams, promoting knowledge sharing and growth.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics or related field (MBA, CFA, or similar professional qualifications preferred).
  • 8-10 years of experience in treasury, corporate finance, or project finance, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong experience with structured finance, tax equity financing, and capital markets, ideally in the energy or infrastructure sectors.
  • Proven experience in managing large-scale debt and equity transactions, including structured finance, tax equity, project financing, and corporate debt facilities.
  • Expertise in treasury management, cash flow forecasting, liquidity management, and financial risk mitigation.
  • Strong experience in structuring and executing complex project financing, tax equity deals, and capital markets transactions.
  • Excellent strategic thinking, analytical skills, and financial modeling capabilities, particularly in the context of energy project financing.
  • Advanced proficiency with financial software, treasury management systems, and project financing tools (e.g., Kyriba, SAP Treasury, Excel, etc.).
  • Strong negotiation skills and experience in managing relationships with financial institutions, capital providers, and investors.
  • Exceptional collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams, including the Director of Structured Finance.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities, with a focus on team development and performance.
  • Ability to thrive in a high-growth, fast-paced, and dynamic environment.
  • High integrity, with a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset and the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Compensation and Benefits
The actual salary and bonus offered will depend on the specific skills and experience of the selected candidate.
Salary: $200,000Bonus: 25%

Location
This position is classified as remote; however, periodic travel to company offices, project sites, or other meeting locations may be required on an as-needed basis.
