ABOUT THE POSITION


We are seeking a highly motivated and organized leader to join our growing team as Sr. Manager, Accounting. The successful candidate will demonstrate expert industry knowledge, superior communications, and strong project and people management skills. This role reports to the Avantus Controller.


 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES 



  • Own month-end cash close process, assuring timely and accurate completion to deliver management reporting.

  • Own quarter-end close processes that support various areas of accounting, to include but not limited to billing and collecting for project revenues, accrued expense, prepaid assets, deferred project costs, debt, related parties, and investment in subsidiaries.

  • Prepare complex balance sheet reconciliations and record non-standard journal entries.

  • Oversee the team of Senior Accountants (GL, AP, AR) and outsourced consultants who will help with the day-to-day operations, detail reviewing work, and providing mentorship/ career development.  Assists will all aspects of accounting and preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP.

  • Oversee Accounts Payable, ensuring all payments are made timely, properly coded, and have been appropriately approved.

  • Experience with project level accounting, consolidations, and multi-entity structures.

  • Reviews financial data for accuracy.

  • Proactively identifies problems and proposes solutions.

  • Ability to research and reconcile discrepancies and verify documents in accordance with accounting procedures and policies.

  • Seek opportunities for process improvements and implement operational accounting efficiencies through improved policies and control enhancements.

  • Assist with audits, due diligence and other duties as assigned.

  • Ensure maximum efficiency and productivity of the team.


 


REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS



  • BA/BS in Accounting or Finance, with an MBA or CPA desired

  • 7+ years of experience in accounting, out of which a minimum of 2 years in public accounting or at a public company, and 2 years managing direct reports.

  • Knowledge of GAAP practices and processes.

  • Experience in multi-entity structures and renewable energy accounting (Preferred).

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills.

  • Proven track record to work cross functionally and adapt to change.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.

  • Experience with Sage Intacct and Concur (preferred).

  • Detail oriented with the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment while adapting quickly to maintain deadlines.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and clients.
