The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), located at the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in Golden, Colorado is the nation's primary laboratory for research and development of renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies. NREL is seeking a Space Planner III to support to provide space planning services including space layouts, IWMS database administration, and related activities across NREL campuses and sites. Responsibilities also include preparing cost estimates for user requests, as well as coordinating and overseeing furniture installations.
Major Responsibilities
Provide furniture, space layouts, and designs for NREL office space using AutoCAD. Layouts and designs are based upon NREL standard criteria and user requirements. Responsibilities include meeting with users, reviews, and providing options for each customer request. Layouts and designs require knowledge and coordination in building operating systems including electrical, mechanical, and fire safety engineering.
Design office space layouts using AutoCAD, based on NREL standards and user needs.
Utilize knowledge of furniture systems to provide detailed cost estimates for requests.
Review space plans and furniture drawings from outside consultants for compliance with NREL standards.
Collaborate with organizations to assess current and future office space requirements and create space plans to maximize utilization.
Conduct space assessments and walkdowns to evaluate space utilization and allocations.
Manage daily space requests, ensuring alignment with Company’s mission and space policies. Interface with relevant parties, track progress, and ensure timely resolution.
Coordinate and oversee furniture installations, ensuring installations meets approved layouts.
Develop ergonomic designs and space solutions.
Administer the Company IWMS space management database, ensuring floor plans in AutoCAD and IWMS remain accurate.
Follow ESH&Q policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
Prepare and present clear written and graphic communications.
Develop and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders.
Perform additional duties as required.

* Must meet educational requirements prior to employment start date.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, IWMS / CAFM software (FM:Systems, Archibus, Tririga, etc.), Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, and Adobe Acrobat.
Experience space planning with systems furniture using CAD blocks.
Knowledge of local / national building codes and ADA.
Ability to read and interpret architectural plans, and specifications.
Strong communication skills for communicating with diverse staff (engineering, maintenance, research staff, support staff, center directors, office directors, executive management).
Licensed architect, interior designer, or relevant certifications.
Experience with Steelcase and Trendway systems furniture.
