Description

 The Solar PV System Designer is a contributing member of the Design & Engineering team, primarily responsible for supporting the Sales, Procurement, and Construction teams by producing simulations and design packages. This is a full-time position, operating under general supervision and with oversight, while developing expertise in the solar PV and battery energy storage system (BESS) fields. 


· Support Sales and Business Development teams with proposal process by simulating solar PV array layouts and generating production estimates for prospective customers using tools such as TrueDesign, Scanifly, Helioscope, Google Earth, SketchUp, and PVWatts. 

· Develop Issued for Permit (IFP) and/or Issued for Construction (IFC) design packages for solar PV systems and battery energy storage systems (BESS) based on site survey data, Tiger Solar Design Standards and Best Practices, and contractual, code, and permitting requirements to include: site plan; zoning and fire access; array attachment, racking, PV module, stringing, and grounding layouts; electrical one-line diagram and calculations; critical loads panelboard schedule and usage profile; system labeling; and detail drawings, as applicable. 

· Coordinate with third-party engineering firms to obtain Professional Engineer (PE) stamps for structural and electrical designs. 

· Support Procurement and Construction teams by preparing bills of materials (BOMs).  

· Complete As-Built design packages to incorporate field and design changes.

· Submit all design packages, and initially, all simulations, for peer review; make corrections prior to providing to Sales and Construction teams. 

· Maintain an organized file system for drawings and other project documents; adhere to standards and templates for uniformity in portfolio; collaborate with teammates to continuously improve internal design tools, templates, and processes.

· Grow technical expertise and pursue certifications in current design technology and industry standards.

Requirements


· Associate’s degree in Computer-Aided Drafting and Design (CADD), Engineering Technology, or related field; or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Electrical, Structural, or Mechanical) or related field; or equivalent work experience and demonstrated knowledge.

· Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced NABCEP Solar PV Certification is a plus. 

· Proficiency with SketchUp/LayOut (or equivalent drafting software, e.g., AutoCAD) and GIS tools (e.g., ArcGIS, Google Earth, AutoCAD Map 3D).

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, SharePoint, Outlook, and Teams, as well as Adobe Acrobat; familiarity with engineering ticketing software (e.g., Freshdesk, Zendesk, JIRA); ability to learn new software.

· Ability to interpret electrical, structural, mechanical, and architectural drawings. 

· Strong planning, organization, and prioritization skills; ability to work autonomously and meet deadlines.

· Strong technical and analytical skills; adept at researching issues and proposing solutions; detail-oriented in all correspondence and deliverables. 

· Relationship builder that displays a positive, “Can Do” attitude; communicates with peers, supervisor, and all other external individuals both effectively and respectfully. 

· Clear understanding of, and ability to enthusiastically promote, safe workplace practices and procedures.

Salary Description
$23.00 to $26.00 per hour
