About the role:

The Senior Manager, Battery Engineering will be responsible for the end-to-end engineering, testing, charging, validation and integration of HV batteries (both Lithium-Ion and Lead Acid) and HV systems into a broad portfolio of forklifts and related products.  They will also be responsible for developing and managing design and testing to allow batteries to be used in 2nd and 3rd life applications.  In this role, the candidate will develop their own team and lead cross-functional teams on applications and strategy for current and future products in conjunction with the Product Development and other Engineering teams.  At the beginning, the Sr. Manager will be the engineering point of contact for all battery manufacturers and suppliers that Logisnext works with.  Additionally, this position will manage any 3rd party testing and validation project development (for example, UL).

  

What you will do:

  • Develop and perform testing of new and (2nd life, eventually) batteries in accordance with standards. These tests can include: State of heath (SOH) measurement, Battery Cycling (Depth of Discharge / full charge), Longevity / Cyces, Voltage and Current measurement and requirements for products.
  • Serve as the engineering subject matter expert for all battery related activities, including design, integration, testing and validation.
  • Develop and execute strategies to accelerate the knowledge and design of products and uses, lowering costs and improving product performance.

 

When & Where:

  • This position will be remote with travel to our Houston, TX and/or Marengo, IL offices.
  • Occasional travel < 20% (domestically and internationally). Higher travel likely at beginning of role until the team is more established.

Qualifications

What you need to have:

  • Bachelor's or Master's (preferred) degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical or Related Relevant Experience
  • 10+ years of relevant experience to include previous management experience
  • Experience designing and setting up battery test lab(s) and related equipment and managing 3rd party testing
  • Experience validating 2nd and 3rd life applications for Lithium-Ion batteries and potential partners (2nd life of truck or battery, energy storage, re-manufacture, etc.)
  • Hands On OEM experience with Batteries, Testing and Testing Equipment, or Design
  • Experience testing design and execution to assess battery SOH and performance characteristics, 2nd life and failure modes
  • Experience with validation of Charger and Battery Integration

 

What would be nice to have:

  • Knowledge of the fundamentals of forklift power solutions, components, and performance
  • Knowledge of Cells/Modules, Batteries, and Electrical Energy Storage Systems
  • Experience with AC/DC and DC/DC Power Supplies and Converters
  • Prior experience with engineering project management skills and procedures 
  • Excellent Presentation and Communication Skills
