The Business Digital Transformation & Optimization (DTO) department is a cross-functional area focused on improving projects, processes, systems, and tools with a focus on obtaining positive and quantitative business results. This area is responsible for defining, standardizing, implementing, and continuously improving processes, systems, and tools to develop sustainable efficiencies and continuous improvement in the entire value chain of the Onshore Renewables business.

The Technology area, as part of the Digital Transformation & Optimization department, oversees the Digital Center of Excellence, ensuring Renewables technology is deployed in an efficient and effective way, using the right technology, deployed under the correct operational model, and meeting business requirements.

Within the Technology team, the Digital Operations and Maintenance (O&M) group focuses on new technology deployment, existing technology enhancement and production support, business process automation, optimization, and operations provided to all business areas under the Renewables Operations and Maintenance department. The primary focus is to understand business processes and work together with key stakeholders to implement transformational technology initiatives. Additionally, this team will create a culture of technology evolution and innovation, fostering the importance of integrating technology to optimize efficient use of the technology and add business value.

This is a role integrated within the business reporting under the Renewables leadership team, possessing a deep understanding of the Renewables organization, processes, procedures, and industry. This business integration allows to fully maximize technology alignment to business needs and optimize digital solutions delivery.

MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support development and ongoing maintenance of technology pertaining to our O&M and Logistics business areas. Responsibilities entail developing and maintaining technology, debugging issues, and designing, testing, and implementing new or current business systems enhancements, ensuring consistency with company strategy, standards, commitments, and goals.
  • Understand Avangrid Renewables Operations and Maintenance goals, objectives, and processes, and collaborate with business owners to provide technology automation to enhance business value and facilitate goals achievement.
  • Responsible for requirements gathering, technical analysis, solution design, review, testing and implementation of business technology ranging from small enhancements to large projects.
  • Work in a multicultural international environment, designing solutions with key stakeholders distributed in different continents. The ability to manage global time differences is a key function of this position.
  • Work with customer business Subject Matter Experts and end-users at different stages of engagement to provide solutions to their requirements.
  • Map business requirements to technical architectures, standards, and reusable assets.
  • Translate business requirements into functional and technical analysis/design, and manage software factories to develop, customize, and modify applications.
  • Responsible for the technical application development life cycle from business requirements gathering to user training and technology implementation.
  • Support production configuration and assist in functional change requests.
  • Categorize and prioritize analysis and mapping workload for planning and forecasting.
  • Work within all aspects of system integration and data management, and have significant experience in leading such engagements.
  • Participate in the continued innovation and digitalization of our applications pertaining to the Onshore Renewables generation fleet.
  • Follow company-defined technology deployment methodologies, ensuring new deployment and enhancements are done in a secure way, with the required level of quality and operational levels.
  • Determine the level of outsourcing based on specific technology development needs, and establish the right partner to collaborate with the team on delivering technology. Manage technology providers from a technical perspective.
  • Work with Technology leads to ensure adherence to best practices in technology development, including standards, reviews, and quality.
  • Implement and maintain rigorous testing protocols to ensure technology quality and performance. Conduct reviews to maintain high standards of technical quality.
  • Provide operational support to technology operations. Establish technology environments based on improved reliability, redundance and resilience. Address and resolve technical issues in a timely manner.
  • Manage technology projects end-to-end to ensure that Operations and Maintenance process automation and technology deployment are developed on time and under budget.
  • Work with internal technology provisioning departments to ensure successful implementation and integration of advanced technologies.
  • This position is focused on Avangrid Renewables Onshore. It will also provide operational experience support to the Avangrid Renewables Offshore organization in punctual bases if required.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Four (4) Years of Technology experience with demonstrated background in a technology function
  • Three (3) Years of demonstrated experience in any technology function applied to Renewable Energy
  • Experience in data migration activities
  • Strong technology testing capabilities
  • Excellent skills preparing functional specifications, technical documentation, and training materials
  • Experience participating in strategic projects execution and change management, while engaging and influencing various stakeholders at all levels of an organization
  • Background of managing complex efforts with demanding customers
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and coordinate multiple work activities and meet target deadlines
  • Strong commitment to personnel safety and security
  • Ability to foster and participate in a productive team environment by establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with co-workers, managers, customers, contractors, and vendors
  • Flexible, creative, and solution-focused approach to problem solving
  • Travel within the US and to Europe could be required from time to time.
