NREL's Energy Conversion and Storage Systems Center has an immediate opening for a full time regular researcher.
This position will involve working with a dynamic team of researchers on exploring new manufacturing techniques for next-generation lithium ion batteries as well as characterizing degradation mechanisms and material properties that impact battery performance. The position will involve helping scale new manufacturing techniques and derisk the path towards scalable roll-to-roll production of advanced microstructured and dry-processed electrodes.
The role will involve electrochemical, morphological, and chemical characterization of materials and linking physical properties of materials to their electrochemical performance in cells. The position will be highly collaborative and will involve working alongside a diverse group of energy storage and materials researchers.

Previous experience with laser-ablation techniques when applied to battery electrodes in order to create 3D morphologies that enable fast charging of battery systems
Previous knowledge of nano-an/or micro-CT systems and how to prepare and image air sensitive battery samples with these tools is required.
The role will also require excellent skills in communicating and presenting complex scientific topics.
