Working closely with the Bids & Tenders team, the Procurement Specialist manages the purchase of general and specialized equipment, materials, or subcontractors’ services for use or for further processing. Reporting to the Procurement Manager and the Project Bid Director, the Procurement Specialist is responsible for maintaining established procedures and methods to provide delivery and procurement of goods and services, manages subcontractors and while maintaining compliance with company’s policies and procedures.

Job Description

  • Identify suppliers of goods and services.

  • Tender in company software for general and specialized equipment, materials, or business service for use or for further processing by the business

  • Assess the requirements of the business and develop specifications for equipment, materials, and supplies to be tendered.

  • Determine or negotiate contract terms and conditions, supplier contracts, or recommend tenders for use by the business.

  • Review logistics of delivery schedules.

  • Conduct weekly procurement meetings with the project estimating teams to ensure the meeting of procurement commitments (RFP issuance, addendums, clarifications, bid received deadlines, etc.)

  • Ensure compliance with Supply Chain vendor accreditation process

  • Advise project team of critical information, such as specification changes, delivery status, future price changes, etc.

  • Negotiate with current and potential suppliers in an effort to obtain reduced price and favorable terms.

  • Other duties as required.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • A bachelor’s degree or college diploma in Business Administration, Commerce, Economics or a related field or combination of education / experience

  • Demonstrated related work experience

  • Experience working in the construction industry; knowledge of appropriate local suppliers and subcontractor services a strong asset

  • Strong relationship building skills

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
