Engineering Intern

Status: Non-Exempt (hourly)

Department: 354 Manufacturing Engineering

Position Summary

Plug Power Inc. is actively seeking a highly motivated Engineering intern. The intern will be responsible for assisting the Manufacturing Department in a wide variety of engineering initiatives and projects in support of the co-op’s academic studies. In this role, you will gain exposure to a fast-paced manufacturing and engineering environment which includes developing a detailed understanding of Plug Power’s products. The role will focus on the successful completion of technical projects, process improvement, documentation, and presentation of results at the end of the program.

Project Summary

  • Manufacturing process improvement through the implementation of manufacturing automation
  • Development of the systems which communicate through manufacturing equipment to the manufacturing execution system
  • Development of automation standard to be used in the design and procurement of future PLUG power automation
  • Manufacturing equipment OEE improvement to ensure maximum uptime and continuous improvement

Core Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a detailed understanding of all Plug Power products
  • Work with senior level engineers and management to interpret and analyze data
  • Assist in developing engineering processes with guidance from senior level engineers and management
  • Understand engineering concepts and how to appropriately apply them in day to day projects
  • Ability to critically analyze data in terms of system performance and reliability
  • Drive continuous improvement through all aspects of PLUGs manufacturing process
  • Work cross functionally within an operations, supply chain, and engineering organization
  • Represent Plug Power in a professional manner at all times and in all interactions
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

Education and Qualification

  • Pursuing a Bachelor of Science or master's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Computer, Software Engineering, or a related program
  • Prior Internship or Co-op experience preferred
  • Possess solid hands-on approach to problem-solving
  • Computer and software systems skills as applicable to position including but not limited to: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to manage complex projects and multi-task effectively
  • Demonstrated analytical abilities with strong attention to detail
  • Must possess the highest ethical standards and a commitment to work quality

Estimated Base Salary Range:

$21.00 - $25.00
