Job Description

Position Overview

As a Manager, Performance & Technology (Wind), you will function as a subject matter expert focused on increasing project value via enhancements to resource/energy assessment and technology application. You will leverage Invenergy’s operational fleet and data to inform pre-construction energy estimates and to assess technical performance of current/forward-looking technologies and applications. You will be responsible for bringing state-of-the-art methods for resource and energy assessment in-house. You will support projects directly during critical phases such as contracting and financing. You will work closely with a variety of internal teams focused on domestic onshore wind projects including Renewable Engineering, Operations Engineering, Global Sourcing, Finance, and Origination.

The position reports to the Director, Performance & Technology.

A successful candidate will have a deep understanding of both resource/energy assessment and wind turbine platforms and will be both detail oriented and capable of big picture thinking. Excellent collaboration, communication, project management, and problem-solving skills are required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and own Invenergy’s meteorological campaign strategy and technical requirements and coordinate with Development teams for deployment, data collection, and maintenance.

  • Ensure proper application of industry accepted methodologies and best practices for internal resource and energy assessments.

  • Develop the review process for internal and 3rd party resource and energy assessments.

  • Lead the development and adoption of new tools and process improvements to enhance project value and optimization.

  • Collaborate and coordinate with Project Engineering and guide strategic decision-making concerning energy performance and technology selection for projects.

  • Support execution of offtake contracts and major equipment supply agreements reviewing for language related to performance and testing.

  • Support project financing as technical SME in target technical areas.

  • Collaborate and coordinate with Operations Engineering to identify and execute high value opportunities to leverage Invenergy’s operating assets to inform future pre-construction energy estimates and increase project value.

  • Stay abreast of advancements in wind technologies including emerging trends and innovations.

  • Coordinate with major equipment manufacturers and internal Global Sourcing and Renewable Engineering teams to identify value engineering opportunities.

  • Represent Invenergy as resource/energy assessment and technology subject matter expert through development and construction.

  • Communicate with senior leaders and represent Invenergy with customers, external consultants, independent engineers, and industry associations.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field

  • 5+ years of experience in engineering, resource and energy assessment, or a related field

  • Software experience in energy modeling (i.e., Openwind, WindFarmer) and resource modeling (i.e., Windographer, Github)

  • Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Business, or related field

  • Knowledge of technical and commercial aspects of project development, offtake contracting, and financing wind energy projects

  • Excellent data analytics, reporting, presentation, and communication skills

  • Effective collaboration, communication, and relationship management skills

  • Ability to guide and implement process improvements

  • Ability to multi-task and manage deliverables for multiple projects concurrently

  • Ability to navigate commercially sensitive discussions and have the presence to represent the company’s interest with outside experts

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

  • Coding experience (Python, R, etc…)

  • Direct people management experience

  • Experience modeling energy project economics and ability to develop NPV, LCOE, IRR, and similar analyses
