The position is based in Downtown Houston with a hybrid work model of 3 days in the office and 2 days from home.

Job Summary:

The Manager, Energy Assessment will support the development of wind energy projects across North America, specifically being responsible for the wind resource analysis and modeling, the wind farm design as well as the estimation of the energy yield of the wind farms.

Responsibilities:

  • Design of measurement campaigns to support project development and energy yield analysis.

  • Hire and manage the installation of meteorological mast measurement devices as well as follow-up the status of the different devices to arrange maintenance activities.

  • Data retrieval, quality control and processing of measurement data to create the datasets to be used as the inputs for the energy yield calculations.

  • Review, design and optimization of the wind farm layouts.

  • Carry out energy yield assessments including statistical analysis of data, wind energy output modeling, technical and other losses evaluation and uncertainty analysis.

  • Support the Business Development unit in Technical Due Diligences and M&A processes as well as in prospecting new opportunities and regions/markets.

  • Manage third parties (Independent Engineering) during M&A and Tax Equity Investment processes.

  • Provide technical guidance to other areas regarding wind energy technology and wind energy modelling.

  • Negotiation, definition and breakdown of the wind farm availability tests and definition of the calculation and measurement methodology.

  • Support with siting permanent meteorological towers, power curve measurement campaign and site calibration campaign.

Qualifications:

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship now or in the future.

  • MSc or BSc in Engineering, Meteorology or a related technical field.

  • 5+ years’ experience carrying out wind energy assessments and related tasks.

  • Broad knowledge of wind resource industry tools such as OpenWind, Windographer, WAsP, Windfarmer, WindPRO is required.

  • Knowledge of GIS tools such as Global Mapper, ArcGIS, QGIS and/or AutoCAD.

  • Programming skills in order to create/manage macros in VBA, scripts or simple programs in Python, Matlab or equivalent a plus.

  • Thorough knowledge of Due Diligence and M&A processes as well as of managing independent third parties to discuss energy yield estimates and wind farm design issues.

  • Availability to travel to project sites.
