Job Summary
This position oversees and manages the Avangrid Networks CMP Distribution Planning Team in Maine. This includes the planning processes to ensure system performance and capacities to operate are maintained within the established criteria. Additional responsibilities include working closely with governing processes on strategic issues impacting the integrity of the distribution electrical infrastructure, oversight with regard to the prioritization of Avangrid Networks distribution capital investments, and monitoring industry and legislative change and research relating to Distributed Energy Resources (DER). This role is instrumental in fostering team involvement and development to allow for continuous learning in a changing technology environment.
Manages engineering staff and contracted external resources. Sets department goals and strategic direction and initiates action plans, engineering studies and assignments to accomplish goals.
Develops short and long range plans to meet reliability and capacity needs. Oversees, defines and prioritizes system-wide and circuit-level solutions based on established criteria, risk, impact, value, and implementation complexity. Provides oversight and recommendations to the prioritization of Avangrid Networks distribution capital investments.
Collaborates and coordinates with other departments within Avangrid and Iberdrola, consultants, attorneys, utilities, regulatory agencies, government agencies, and major customers. Represents Avangrid Networks on technical committees and provides technical input and testimony for regulatory proceedings.

Technical Skills and Requirements
The following skills are desired of those candidates seeking a management position in Distribution Planning. However, offsetting industry and other relevant technical skills will be considered for candidates without previous experience in these Distribution Planning activities (e.g. T&D Engineering, P&C, etc.).
Technical Skills/Competencies
• Theoretical Engineering knowledge: Planning, Operations and Engineering Design, Analytics, Modeling & Calculation (e.g. sym. Components, per unit, etc.), Understanding the Business Model
• Practical Engineering Experience/Application: Planning, Operations and Engineering Design, Construction, (e.g. field experience, standardization, develop business case and defend in front of stakeholders)
• Engineering documentation: Ability to adequately document and interpret engineering documentation, review and approve engineering work done by others
• Knowledge of Regulatory and Compliance Environment: Local, State and Federal Regulatory Standards and Requirements (NERC, NPCC, ISO, PUC, etc.)

Education & Experience Requirements:
BSEE required with a strong preference given to applicants with Advanced Degrees or Certifications (e.g. MSEE, PE, etc.); Candidates from other engineering disciplines may be considered depending on relevant work experience
7+ years of experience (Industry related including supervisory experience), ability to demonstrate strong leadership skills
