ACCIONA is looking for a Maintenance Engineering Manager who will be responsible for leading ACCIONA's North American Wind Turbine Engineering support team, supporting the existing fleet of over 1 GW of renewable assets along with the planned development of 3.5 GW of PV and storage projects. This role has 4 direct reports consisting of Wind Turbine Support Technicians and Mechanical Engineers.

The position has a hybrid weekly office schedule and required domestic travel up to 40%.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Maintenance Engineering team and coordinate with Operations Technology functions
  • Development of processes and procedures to safely and effectively maintain Acciona renewable generating facilities for “Best in Class Performance”
  • Ensure high availability of equipment through an efficient preventative maintenance program
  • Ensure work performed at renewable generating facilities conforms to all applicable regulatory and manufacturer requirements
  • Resolve product defects while optimizing availability and cost
  • Track operating trends and manage technical and procedural resolutions
  • Develop a technical document management system to include preventative and corrective maintenance procedures. Ensure configuration management
  • Be proficient at Root Cause Analysis to accurately determine and model failure mode, cause and corrective action
  • Complete and maintain required and accurate documentation and records
  • Complete and maintain recommended spare parts and tools lists
  • Develop and present the expense budget for the maintenance engineering function
  • Build relationships with 3rd party service providers
  • Serve as the company’s representative with customers and contractors
  • Ensure all personnel and subcontractors meet technical and safety training requirements. Conduct and review safety analyses and reviews of hazards and energy sources. Develop a system of compliance checks for operating and safety rules
  • Ensure work performed at renewable generating facilities conforms to all applicable regulatory and manufacturer requirements.
  • Facilitate the daily, weekly and monthly reporting requirements for our internal and external customers, as well as KPI reporting
  • Implement training and education to enhance employee growth and continued job performance improvement
  • Maintain required training certifications and proficiencies for self and team
  • Represent Acciona within the industry, including facilitation of professional presentations to national trade groups, and acting as an advisor to industry boards
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline or equivalent.
  • Advanced degree and/or P.E. a plus
  • 5 – 10 years experience in Operations and Maintenance of energy facilities. A concentration in renewable energy industry is a plus
  • Demonstrated history of engineering problem solving
  • Prior experience managing technologies at large scale facilities or work locations
  • Prior experience managing contracts
  • Demonstrate continuous commitment to safe operations. Be an active role model and constant resource to the organization
  • Ability to plan, direct switching and tagging for field personnel in the operation and restoration of the wind farm
  • Ability to travel up to 40% of time to domestic and international locations
  • Possess the ability to think and analyze situations, and determine and implement effective resolutions in a fast paced environment
  • Strengths will include excellent communications, organization, positive leadership, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to successfully interact with key executives, external and internal customers
  • Posses a working understanding of budgeting and contract implementation
  • Able to work in an indoor or outdoor environment
  • Ability to climb vertical ladders up to 300 feet
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Hold or be able to obtain a passport
  • Experience with Maximo systems is a plus
  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus
