Experienced ITS (Intelligent Transportation Systems) & Tolling Systems Manager to lead and support the lifecycle of managed lanes projects in the United States. This role encompasses responsibilities from business development to project implementation and operational handover, ensuring seamless integration of tolling and ITS technologies. The ideal candidate will possess technical expertise, project management skills, and a strategic mindset to drive innovation and operational excellence in transportation infrastructure projects.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with business development teams to identify and pursue new opportunities in managed lanes projects, leveraging ITS and tolling solutions.
  • Develop technical proposals and presentations tailored to client needs and industry standards.
  • Engage with key stakeholders, including DOTs, municipalities, and private-sector partners, to position the company as a leader in managed lanes operations.
  • Support the technical design and specification of tolling and ITS systems, including Electronic Toll Collection (ETC), traffic management, and safety systems.
  • Work with engineering teams to ensure compliance with local regulations and best practices in managed lanes projects.
  • Coordinate with vendors, subcontractors, and technology providers to meet project timelines and performance standards.
  • Support the development of processes for collection, auditing, reconciliation, and fraud prevention.
  • Support the transition of completed projects to operational teams.
  • Analyze system performance post-implementation and recommend enhancements to improve efficiency and customer experience.
  • Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes to identify opportunities for innovation.
  • Contribute to the development of the company’s ITS and tolling strategy, ensuring alignment with long-term goals and market demands.
  • Design processes for data collection from ITS and tolling systems, ensuring accuracy and reliability.
  • Analyze traffic and tolling data to produce routine reports, identify trends, and provide actionable insights to optimize operations and revenue.
  • Oversee data processing and storage while adhering to data privacy and security standards.

Required Skills and Competencies

Skills and Knowledge:

  • In-depth knowledge of ITS components (e.g., sensors, cameras, traffic management centers) and tolling technologies (e.g., RFID, ANPR).
  • Proficiency in systems integration, data processing, and analytics platforms for tolling and ITS.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in data-driven decision-making and reporting.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Transportation, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in ITS and tolling systems, preferably within managed lanes or similar infrastructure projects.
  • Proven track record in project management, from conception to implementation
  • Familiarity with US transportation regulations, standards, and procurement processes (e.g., FHWA, state DOTs).
  • Experience in toll collection systems operations, revenue management, and fraud prevention is highly desirable.
