Title: Interconnection Project Engineer

Location: Salt Lake City, UT (Full Time Teleworking Permitted)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Interconnection Project Engineer supports all interconnection activities through the full life cycle of development and construction of projects; The Interconnection Project Engineer supports the Interconnection Regional Lead and other internal stakeholders leading to the successful execution of both new and acquired generation projects across the United States; Supports greenfield development: reviews transmission system analysis, identifies interconnection agencies and procedures, prepares and files interconnection requests; Interconnection requests include supporting internal and external parties on preparation of technical materials, providing viability feedback to the Regional Lead and other internal stakeholders to support any financial and project approvals needed; Interconnection study process: supports the review and analysis of utility study reports; tracks and reports results throughout process; supports negotiation and execution of interconnection, engineering and procurement agreements; Implementation of portfolio projects: assists internal groups to complete deliverables required by transmission owners to construct interconnection facilities. This assistance includes integrating schedules of Transmission Owner into project construction schedule; Supports project due diligence efforts, identify existing and potential red flags for project acquisitions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Job requires Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field and 3 years of experience in any job title/occupation involving renewable energy development utility generation development or transmission planning, electric utility, or a related field.

Job requires 3 years of experience in each of the following: Power Flow model analysis of the California Electric Grid for generation interconnection projects; Analyzes and interprets system impact studies and facility studies for utility scale solar, wind and battery projects; Interconnection request package submission and preparing electric power flow models of renewable projects, site plans, single line diagrams, site control document of the project site, working to get necessary approvals to submit study deposits, technical documentation of the generators; Participates in the management of solar and wind projects through the generator interconnection processes which includes negotiation and execution of Generator Interconnection Agreements; Understands electrical diagrams and preliminary site plans; Understands technical specification of different inverters, battery storage equipment provided by vendor and interprets necessary technical information needed to use in the Power Flow analysis; Communicates efficiently with California Independent System Operator, Transmission Owners (Pacific Gas and Electric, Southern California Edison, San Diego Gas and Electric, and other California Transmission Owners) and stake holders; Reviews transmission systems and transmission expansion plans in US with emphasis in California transmission projects; Negotiates and support execution of Larger Generation Interconnection agreements between California Independent System Operator and Transmission Owners.

5% domestic travel to attend meetings and complete site visits required.
