Acciona Solar Power is looking for an experienced Control Room Operator to carry out operational and monitoring activities from our Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) plant’s control room based out of Boulder City, NV. This role is responsible for executing start-up and shut-down procedures, and maintaining operations of the plant on a continuous basis and in a safe and efficient manner. This is a union position.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

· Perform the safe and efficient start-up, operation, and shut down of a Concentrated Solar Power plant from the control room. Actively monitor and review operational conditions and respond accordingly, including providing timely notice of abnormal conditions to appropriate management.

· Ensure that safety procedures are followed and safe conditions and clearance boundaries are established before allowing work. Demonstrate commitment to continuous safe practices.

· Monitor site water chemistry; instruct the Power Plant Operator to take corrective actions when abnormalities exist.

· Communicate with NV Energy and other regulating agencies as required by the project PPA, WECC, and NERC.

· In the absence of on-site management personnel, assume the responsibility and control of site access and all activities that occur on site. Notifications of any abnormalities are to be immediately reported to authorized management personnel.

· Direct the Power Plant Operator and Solar Field Operator in activities associated with supporting the plants daily operation.

· Input routine and emergency work requests into the site work order system.

· Maintain neat and accurate written records of events and activities in the control room operator log book.

· Perform electronic data entry of pertinent operational conditions into the site performance database.

· Assist in the performance of maintenance activities.

· Contribute to the development of the Operations team by assisting in the training of Power Plant Operators on plant processes.

· Other responsibilities as assigned.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • 5 years’ operational experience working within an industrial power generation environment. Experience in a solar thermal plant preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to safely perform remote electrical switching activities on switchgear up to 15kV.
  • Familiarity and knowledge of working with a Distributed Control System; knowledge of Emerson Ovation a plus.
  • Able to operate heavy equipment including forklift; man lift; water/reflectivity maintenance trucks; evacuation truck; and evacuation cooler.
  • Requires completion of appropriate AENA training.
  • Fluent in reading and understanding Process and Instrumentation Diagrams, equipment manuals, and operational procedures.
  • Ability to work in a 24/7/365 environment and in extreme weather conditions.
  • Rotating day/night shifts will be required.
  • Valid NV drivers’ license.
