Job Description

Responsibilities include:

General Compliance Activities & Support (~33%)

Assist the EDP’s Compliance Manager and the International Compliance Manager with the following activities:

  • Coordinating various activities supporting EDP and Latin American compliance programs, including compliance risk assessments and training sessions.
  • Developing employee communications to promote the core elements of an effective compliance program.
  • Reviewing translated content for accuracy, particularly for governing documents and training / communications.
  • Coordinating training activities and events to promote compliance in the communities surrounding the EDP power plant, social, assets, environmental teams, and relevant third parties of the project.
  • Support coordination and set up for local compliance committees in the Latin American region.
  • Drafting minutes of local compliance committee meetings.
  • Monitoring compliance policies and procedures, identifying risks and opportunities for improvement, as well as the potential need for new policies, procedures, guidelines, trainings, etc.
  • Assisting with the development of compliance program reporting to lenders, El Salvador’s Financial Investigation Unit (“FIU”), external auditors, senior management, and other key stakeholders.
  • Supporting the development of international compliance programs / criminal compliance model(s), as applicable.
  • Other ad-hoc activities / initiatives.

Third-Party Due Diligence (“TPDD”) (~33%)

  • Responding professionally to daily third-party due diligence requests, carrying out screening activities, gathering and analyzing documentation, reviewing third-party due diligence forms and annexes, and thoroughly documenting findings.
  • Storing third-party due diligence reports and supporting documents in a properly protected location with limited access.
  • Maintaining internal database of all third-party due diligence requests in accordance with FIU requirements and in coordination with Invenergy’s global Third-Party Risk Management (“TPRM”) program.
  • Actively participating and offering support during internal Legal & Compliance TPDD / TPRM team meetings.
  • Support with TPDD form and internal process / procedure updates, as well as with the development of knowledge management collateral.
  • Keeping all records, data, and information updated and accurate.
  • Preparing reports for senior management, summarizing information clearly and objectively, escalating concerns and / or negative findings, and proposing mitigation measures.
  • Implementing a risk assessment for third parties.

Know Your Customer (“KYC”) (~33%)

  • Responding professionally to daily KYC inquiries from internal and external parties.
  • Reviewing and evaluating KYC requests alongside Legal team members, confirming appropriate Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs) and confidentiality provisions are in place.
  • Collecting documentation in response to KYC requests and renewals, such as company, officer, owner, investor, and entity-specific information to prepare responses to KYC requests from banks and other entities.
  • Validating KYC supporting documentation for accuracy by coordinating with various internal stakeholders, such as corporate paralegals, commercial, tax, treasury, financial reporting, and accounting and financial operations team members.
  • Saving and sending final KYC documentation with appropriate level(s) of security, such as password protection of sensitive information.
  • Maintaining internal database of all KYC requests and renewal requests, keeping all records, data, and information updated and accurate.
  • Escalating KYC questions and / or issues to senior management in an organized and timeline manner.

Required Skills:

  • Bilingual Spanish / English (advance/fluid)
  • Minimum of 2 years’ professional experience.
  • Preferred previous experience in consulting, law firms, or in-house legal or compliance departments.
  • Degree or certification related to law or compliance. Knowledge in matters related to KYC, anti-money laundering, fraud and corruption prevention, and criminal risks associated with business activities, among others (preferred).
  • Preferred experience working with IT solutions, entity management systems and KYC tools and databases, such as public databases, London Stock Exchange (LSEG) / Refinitiv, World Check, among others.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and oral and written communication skills.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive and proprietary information.
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines without sacrificing quality of work product.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, depending on the situation.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability and desire to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 products, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, MS Teams, etc., as well as Adobe Acrobat / Nuance.
