POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
·Assist in publicizing the availability of grants related to recycling, composting, waste reduction, and the circular economy, and encouraging Tribes to apply for these grants. This could include, but is not limited to, EPA's Solid Waste Infrastructure for Recycling (SWIFR) Grants for Tribes and Intertribal Consortia, and the Recycling Education and Outreach Grants.
·Provide technical assistance to Tribes with the grant application process by enhancing their capacity to secure environmental grants, offering expert guidance, reviewing, and refining proposals to ensure effectiveness and alignment with sustainability goals.
·Provide technical assistance to Tribes in implementing the grants, including on quality assurance, National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) requirements, financial management, procuring services, supplies, and equipment, and other federal grant compliance issues.
·Provide technical assistance to Tribes by answering questions relating to solid waste and materials management circular economy concepts and themes. This could include, but is not limited to, helping with project implementation on solid waste operations planning, the collection of materials, materials management facility (e.g., transfer stations, composting facilities) operations, and solid waste equipment maintenance.
·Build out a contact network for experts in the circular economy (environmental/recycling/composting/waste reduction fields).
·Efficiently provide direct technical assistance as well as work with a network of expert individuals and organizations on these topics.
·Provide training, host webinars, create web content, and use both traditional and social media to publicize the availability of technical assistance and to provide technical assistance to Tribes.
·Prepare grant reports on technical assistance activities to NIHB's Board and NIHB's funder.
·Perform environmental impact assessments for recycling, composting, and waste reduction projects to ensure EPA compliance and enhance circular economy contributions. Advise on mitigating related environmental risks.
·Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS
·Bachelor's Degree in related field required; Master's preferred.
·Three years of experience working on environmental issues or in a nonprofit setting required.
·Excellent written communication and customer service skills.
·Proficient with Outlook365, and any other systems useful or required for the role.
·Experience working with Tribes, Tribal not-for profit organizations, and on Tribal environmental issues strongly preferred.
