The AW3000 Wind Turbine Support Technician is a technical and procedural subject matter expert and organizational resource for ACCIONA’s AW3000 platform. This position identifies technical issues and develops solutions through troubleshooting and Root Cause Analysis and provides training to and supervision and direction of site personnel that aligns with ACCIONA’s commitment to safe and efficient operations.

The work to be performed by the AW3000 Wind Turbine Support Technician requires knowledge of an advanced type regarding the mechanical components, engineering, and operations of wind turbines and related equipment and systems, preferably but not necessarily acquired by a course of specialized instruction.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver technical support, both on site and remotely, to the Acciona renewable generating facilities to ensure high availability of equipment through an efficient preventative maintenance program and provide first line of response to identified technical issues
  • Demonstrate continuous commitment to safe operations. Be an active role model and constant resource to the organization
  • Track operating trends and recommend technical and procedural resolutions
  • Identify and analyze product defects while optimizing availability and cost
  • Provide technical support and training to site techs and facilitate lesson’s learned sharing across all sites
  • Development of processes and procedures to maintain Acciona renewable generating facilities safely and effectively for “Best in Class Performance”
  • Identify technology and process improvements
  • Be proficient at troubleshooting and Root Cause Analysis to accurately determine cause.
  • Complete and maintain required and accurate documentation and records
  • Facilitate the daily, weekly and monthly reporting requirements for our internal and external customers, as well as KPI reporting
  • Maintain a current understanding of Acciona and renewable generation technology and professional development by participating in various training opportunities and reading Acciona and industry documents publications
  • Maintain required training certifications and proficiencies for self and team.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

    Required Skills and Competencies

    • Requires a college degree in engineering/engineering technology and/or advanced technical degree and/or equivalent work experience in related disciplines
    • Requires 2 years’ experience as a Wind Farm Technician
    • Requires previous experience on the AW3000, and/or AW1500 platform Wind Turbine Generator
    • Possess the ability to think and analyze situations, and determine and implement effective resolutions in a fast-paced environment
    • Ability to conduct and perform root cause analysis
    • Ability to be certified and work with both medium and high voltage equipment
    • Strengths will include excellent communications and professional organizational skills
    • Ability to travel 50%+ of time to domestic and international locations
    • Ability to plan and direct field personnel in the operation and maintenance of the wind farm.

    • Able to work independently and in a team environment
    • Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
    • Ability to move and manipulate up to 50 pounds
    • Ability to climb vertical ladders and work at heights of 300 feet
    • Valid driver’s license
    • Hold or be able to obtain a passport
    • Experience with Maximo systems is a plus
    • Fluency in Spanish is a plus
