Job Summary:

This position reports to the Operations Engineering, Manager of Solar and Storage and performs activities to improve the reliability and performance of LRE solar and storage assets. The goals of this position are to use operational data and monitoring tools to identify performance issues with equipment, document and perform analysis on equipment failures, and ensure technical specifications for critical equipment are properly documented and managed. The position requires knowledge of basic engineering and electrical concepts, and the ability to solve problems unique to solar and battery storage plants. Candidates will also need to communicate effectively and deliver timely results on complex issues and projects.

Essential Functions:

  • Work in safe a professional manner at LRE facilities
  • Perform equipment health monitoring of solar and storage equipment
  • Monitor and report equipment issues
  • Develop monitoring approaches to identify equipment failure
  • Perform analysis on equipment failures
  • Document equipment failure modes and corresponding repair approaches
  • Perform root cause analysis on failed equipment
  • Perform general engineering analysis to support failure and health assessment
  • Manage technical and configuration data of critical solar and storage equipment
  • Analyze component failure rates and spare part quantities
  • Define asset configurations for new plants to support ongoing analysis of failures

Qualifications:

  • 4-Year Bachelors Engineering Degree, Electrical Engineering preferred
  • 0-3 years of relevant technical experience; academic or professional experience with solar or energy storage is a plus
  • Fundamental understanding of electrical engineering concepts
  • Effective communication skills, including ability to clearly communicate ideas to non-technical staff
  • Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated and complete assignments in a timely manner

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to perform physical tasks including standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, twisting and reaching
  • Willingness and ability to travel at least 25%
  • Demonstrated ability to operate a motor vehicle and possession of a valid driver's license
