Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Asset Manager to join our Asset Management group for esVolta’s growing fleet of operational, front-of-meter utility-scale battery energy storage projects. In this role, you will support the optimization of operational performance, asset reporting, and analytics for our growing portfolio of renewable energy storage assets. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring data accuracy, generating insights, and enhancing the overall performance and profitability of our assets.
The Asset Manager will initially report to the company’s Associate Director of AM and will collaborate with the company’s various functions to ensure optimal project performance.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting and Analytics- Generate periodic performance and financial reports for internal stakeholders and external partners, including investors, lenders, tax equity and regulators.
- Maintain and enhance dashboards and reporting tools to visualize operational and financial data for decision-making.
- Conduct variance analyses between actual and forecasted performance metrics.
Asset & Data Management- Ensure the integrity, accuracy and consistency of data from SCADA systems, asset management platforms, and other sources.
- Work closely with the IT and Operations teams to improve data acquisition and storage processes.
- Identify and troubleshoot data discrepancies and recommend system enhancements.
- Manage esVolta’s distribution level assets in CAISO.
Operational Performance Analysis- Monitor, analyze and report on the operational performance of BESS assets, including system efficiency, uptime, and energy storage utilization.
- Develop performance models and benchmarks to identify underperforming assets and recommend corrective actions.
- Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) such as state of charge (SoC), round-trip efficiency (RTE), availability, and degradation rates.
Collaboration and Process Improvement- Collaborate with the Finance, Legal, EPC and AM teams to develop strategies for optimizing asset performance.
- Support the development and implementation of processes to enhance operational efficiency and reduce downtime.
- Lead or contribute to special projects related to operational analytics, technology upgrades, or asset lifecycle improvements.
Education & Experience- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Data Analytics, Finance, or a related field (master’s degree preferred).
- 3+ years of experience of experience in asset management, operations analysis or a related role in renewable energy, energy storage or power generation.
Technical Skills- Proficiency in data analytics tools such as Excel, Power BI, Tableau or similar platforms.
- Comfortable with managing project budgets, forecasts and analysis.
- Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, R or SQL is a plus.
- Strong understanding of BESS technology, energy markets and operational metrics.
Soft Skills- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex information to diverse audiences.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Compensation
The annual salary plus bonus for this position is listed below. The actual salary and bonus offered will depend on the specific skills and experience of the selected candidate. Title: Manager, Asset Management | Salary: $115,000 | Bonus: 15% |
Location- Flexible, option to work-from-home with periodic office visits for in-person engagement or to work from company offices in Newport Beach. For work-from-home option, must have a dedicated workspace and strong internet connectivity.
