A Brief Summary of This Position:
The Accounts Payable/Purchasing Clerk is an office position responsible for providing administrative, financial, and clerical support services in accounts payable and purchasing for Valmont Industries, Steele, AL. This position is primarily responsible for creating purchase orders and submitting payment requests. This position involves a large amount of data entry and participates in vendor relationship management. This position is a backup for certain responsibilities when the Office Manager is absent. The dress is casual to business casual.

Working Environment and Physical Efforts:
Work is typically performed in an office setting with moderate noise. The incumbent is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time, as well as talk and listen on the phone and in personal conversations or meetings. The environment is fast paced and demanding most of the time. The employee is frequently required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms while working in the office. Will work with various files and forms and on the computer. The employee is occasionally required to move about the office. Incumbent must utilize proper ergonomic safeguards such as monitor height and positions, keyboard location and height and proper wrists rests. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds in working with large files, binders, orders and computer equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. Must be able to wear appropriate PPE when out on plant floor including hardhat, safety glasses, earplugs, high viz vest and steel toed boots with metatarsal guards. Minimal local travel required (post office, supply pick up).
