Transmission & Interconnection Internship

As a Transmission & Interconnection Intern at Fervo Energy, you will be an integral part of the team responsible for ensuring our geothermal power projects are seamlessly connected to the grid. You will work alongside experienced engineers and project managers to navigate the complex world of transmission planning, interconnection studies, and regulatory compliance. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced, dynamic industry and contribute to the growth of clean energy solutions.

Responsibilities

• Support the development of interconnection applications and study requests for new geothermal projects.
• Assist in analyzing grid studies and assessing interconnection feasibility.
• Track and manage transmission project timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
• Research and stay up-to-date on transmission planning processes and regulatory requirements in different regions.
• Prepare presentations, reports, and other technical documentation.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders, including transmission owners, utilities, and regulatory agencies.
• Participate in team meetings, brainstorming sessions, and knowledge-sharing activities.

Qualifications

• Junior or Senior actively enrolled in an undergraduate program, or any level of graduate program; Preferred majors: electrical engineering, power systems engineering, or related 
• Strong understanding of power system fundamentals and transmission planning concepts.
• Familiarity with relevant software tools (e.g., PSS/E, PowerWorld, ETAP).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently as well as collaboratively.
• Passionate about renewable energy and sustainable development.

Location

Fervo Energy is headquartered in Houston, TX. Other office locations include Oakland, Reno, Golden, and Salt Lake City. Regular in-office presence at the Houston or Oakland office is required.
