The Colorado Geological Survey is seeking a qualified candidate to develop and assist with geothermal energy projects for Colorado. The candidate may also work on projects related to abandoned mine lands (AML) and associated water quality and mineral resources. The candidate will be responsible for publishing maps and reports within these research areas. They will also collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, constituents, and stakeholders on grant proposals, reports, and data releases.

RESPONSIBILITIES

ENERGY RESOURCES

  • Under supervision of the Director and(or) Minerals and Energy Resources Supervisor, provide input into the direction of geothermal projects and products and assist with AML-related projects.  This may include gathering and compiling data, writing and reviewing reports, publishing maps and datasets, and attending meetings and conferences.
  • Foster collaboration with diverse teams, constituents, and stakeholders
  • Develop and support geothermal energy projects through external grants or with internal funds
  • Monitor the progress of geothermal energy initiatives in Colorado and provide support as needed
  • Engage in projects centered around abandoned mine lands, addressing pertinent water quality and mineral resource concerns
  • Promote the geothermal energy resources of Colorado through attendance and presentations at conferences and meetings
  • Office duties and administrative tasks as assigned. This may include attending meetings, conferences, and other functions essential to the programs and CGS/Mines.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • A bachelor’s degree in Geology or Earth Science is required
  • Prior experience with geothermal development and geothermal-related projects in Colorado
  • Prior experience in abandoned mine land investigations

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • An advanced degree beyond a bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geophysics, Hydrology or related field and at least 10 years of experience working on geothermal and (or) AML projects.  Prior experience in the field of water resources is preferred.
  • Prior experience writing grant proposals and obtaining external funding.
  • Prior experience participating in and leading multidisciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated track record of publishing reports, maps and papers and ability to write technical documents.
  • Familiar with ArcMap/ArcPro and MS Office suite.

Hourly Rate and Benefits 

$35.00 per hour
