Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accounting Manager to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and financial reporting, along with a deep understanding of GAAP, financial analysis, and operational efficiency. As a Senior Accounting Manager, you will oversee accounting operations, oversee the work of others, and ensure the integrity of financial data, compliance, and accurate reporting for internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Compliance:
  • Oversee the general ledger accounting function to ensure timely, efficient completion of month-end closing activities in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Review trial balances and consolidations at all levels to confirm accurate recording of tax equity, cash equity, debt, and other transactions.
  • Accurately manage intercompany transactions and monthly reconciliations for elimination and consolidation.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and flux analysis, including the Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Statement of Cash Flows, and Statement of Equity.
  • Prepare quarterly or annual financial statements to meet reporting requirements under agreements with third parties, such as tax equity investors and lenders/banks.
  • Support the annual financial audit by providing documentation for external auditors and collaborate with the internal team on preparing audited financial statements and notes.
  • Oversee the chart of accounts and facilitate the setup of new entities, departments, and projects.
Process Improvement & Efficiency:
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, enhance efficiency, and streamline workflows.
  • Implement best practices to optimize accounting functions and reduce the risk of errors.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to improve financial systems and processes.
Internal Controls & Risk Management:
  • Establish and maintain a strong system of internal controls to safeguard company assets.
  • Identify and mitigate financial and operational risks.
  • Ensure proper documentation and support for financial transactions and compliance.
Team Leadership & Development:
  • Provide leadership, training, and development to accounting staff.
  • Set clear performance goals, conduct regular performance evaluations, and provide constructive feedback.
  • Foster a collaborative and efficient working environment to ensure team success.

Ad-Hoc Reporting & Analysis:
  • Perform ad hoc projects as needed, including those involving complex or advanced accounting concepts, and support other departments with any necessary financial information.
  • Comply with all esVolta LP policies and procedures.

Skills and Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience in accounting, with progressively increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or closely related field required.
  • Renewable industry (energy storage sector) experience is a big plus
  • Hands-on experience with accounting software packages (experience with Sage Intacct is a plus).
  • Strong technical and analytical accounting background, with familiarity or experience in handling complex accounting issues, consolidations, multi-entity structures, and tax equity partnerships.
  • Commitment, ability, and prior experience in meeting deadlines for monthly and quarterly reporting, and special projects; preparing thorough and complete analyses and reconciliations with appropriate documentation and follow-up.
  • Organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage a demanding workload involving multiple tasks, responsibilities, and deadlines with professional follow-through and minimal supervision.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, highly motivated and results oriented, process oriented with strong communication skills.
  • Self-starter with flexibility, desire to learn, willingness to ask questions, and taking ownership of projects.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Team player and collaborates well with other teams in the organization.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).

Compensation and Location
Compensation: The anticipated annual salary plus bonus range for this position is listed below. The actual salary and bonus offered will depend on the specific skills and experience of the selected candidate.

 
Title: Sr. Accounting Manager Salary: $120,000 - $130,000 Bonus: 20%

Location
  • Flexible, option to work-from-home with periodic office visits for in-person engagement or to work from company offices in Newport Beach. For work-from-home option, must have a dedicated workspace and strong internet connectivity.
  • Requires ability to travel to company offices, project sites and business meetings as needed.
