SUMMARY

 

The PV & BESS Engineer is a key position that involves leveraging expertise in electrical engineering to contribute to the planning, design, and optimization of renewable energy projects. This entails responsibility for creating full set engineering drawings, one lines, wire schedules, PVsyst analysis and conducting solar project feasibility studies and drafting designs for solar system using AutoCAD as well as other design programs.  As a PV & BESS Engineer, you will work closely with a multidisciplinary team and collaborate with industry experts, to ensure that our projects meet the highest standards of efficiency, reliability and sustainability while delivering top-notch solutions.

 

The position is located in Eden Prairie, MN. 

 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Creating full set Electrical drawings for utility and commercial-scale Solar projects

  • Drafting electrical one-line diagrams, panel system designs and conducting PVsyst Analysis

  • Creating PV Wire schedule and creating equipment detail sheets

  • Gaining deep knowledge of PV system components like modules, racking, inverters, and BOS

  • Gaining a good understanding of NEC 2017/2020 and keeping up with emerging technologies

  • Conducting site feasibility studies and assisting with site surveying for PV layouts, building measurements and solar trajectory, shading, and power output calculations


 

QUALIFICATIONS


  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering

  • Experience with AutoCAD, manual drafting, and electrical line drawings

  • Understanding of engineering and renewable energy systems

  • Excellent organizational skills: proficient with MS Excel spreadsheets and data management

  • Ability to interpret site drawings and communicate effectively about them

  • Familiar with electrical components and electrical engineering

  • Some understanding of solar photovoltaic systems

  • Understanding of ampacity calculations in AmpCalc, SKM or CYMCAP will be highly valuable but not required

  • Understanding of power studies in SKM or ETAP will be highly valuable, but it is not required

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills

  • Positive and professional attitude
