The Instructional Design Intern will contribute to the development of cutting-edge training materials for ACCIONA’s renewable energy workforce. This summer internship provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in creating eLearning modules, infographics, and other interactive learning tools while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of experts. The role includes performing training needs analyses, developing storyboards, and supporting the design of materials that promote safety and technical excellence across ACCIONA’s sites.

The position is based in Irving, Texas, reporting to site full-time. The role also includes potential travel to renewable energy sites, such as wind farms, solar farms, or battery energy storage systems.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Content Development:
    • Design engaging training objects, including SCORM-compliant eLearning modules, videos, presentations, and infographics.
    • Utilize AI tools to develop voiceovers and talking head simulations for training materials.
  • Storyboarding and Scripting:
    • Conduct interviews with subject matter experts (SMEs) to gather technical information.
    • Create detailed storyboards and scripts for interactive learning modules and other training content.
  • Training Needs Analysis:
    • Assess target audiences and identify specific training requirements.
    • Evaluate the positive impact of training programs on safety and operational efficiency.
  • Collaboration and Vendor Coordination:
    • Partner with the printer vendor to design and print infographics, safety labels, and other visual materials for site use.
    • Work closely with the training manager, training coordinator, technical engineers, and contracted resources (e.g., film crews or instructional designers).
  • LMS Administration and Training Rollout:
    • Manage course uploads, user tracking, and reporting across multiple Learning Management Systems (LMS).
    • Assist in evaluating training effectiveness and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Travel Opportunities:
    • Participate in site visits to locations such as wind farms, solar farms, or battery energy storage systems to gather real-world insights and support training initiatives.

Required Skills and Competencies

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in or recently completed a bachelor’s program in instructional design, education technology, graphic design, or related field.
  • Prior experience creating presentations and learning objects in an academic or professional setting.
  • Familiarity with eLearning development tools (e.g., Articulate 360, Adobe Captivate) is a plus, with SCORM compliance training provided on the job.
  • Strong communication skills, including experience in interviewing and creating scripts.
  • Interest in renewable energy and innovation is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and basic graphic design skills preferred.

Interns will work 40 hours a week, on-site in the Chicago office.

Pay band/Hourly Rate: $15 – $22 per hour based on experience, education, and skillset
