We are currently seeking an experienced and skilled Heavy Equipment Operator specializing in utility excavation to join our team! The Heavy Equipment Operator will be responsible for driving and controlling construction equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, backhoes, and graders in a safe and efficient manner. This role requires expertise in utility, drainage, and pipe installations, ensuring that excavation and backfilling are completed with precision.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Excavate for pipe, drainage, and utility installations, ensuring proper backfilling and compacting of materials.

  • Assist the line crew by digging ditches, trenches, and hoisting materials using various heavy equipment.

  • Load and unload equipment safely from vehicles and trailers, ensuring secure transport.

  • Maintain cleanliness and safety standards at work sites, including proper handling of equipment and materials.

  • Apply knowledge and expertise in utility and mass excavation techniques to ensure efficient operations.

  • Utilize GPS systems, such as Trimble Earthworks, to ensure precision in excavation and grading tasks.

  • Operate mechanized equipment to move, load, and distribute materials as required by the project.

  • Perform grading and top loading operations using laser-guided or traditional methods.

  • Accurately read and interpret blueprints to execute work according to project specifications.

  • Complete additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the project supervisor or foreman.


Qualifications:



  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience operating heavy equipment in construction or excavation settings.

  • Valid Driver�s License with a clean driving record.

  • Class A CDL with HAZMAT and Tanker endorsements is preferred but not required.

  • Experience with GPS systems, specifically Trimble Earthworks, is a plus.

  • Strong understanding of excavation techniques for utilities and mass excavation.

  • Offer of employment is contingent upon passing a pre-employment drug test.


Compensation: $35 - $40 per hour, based on experience.
