Description

The Geotech will support Fervo Energy’s geological modeling workstream to achieve our geothermal energy development goals. This position will play a key role in helping us evaluate resource opportunities and execute exploration activities across Fervo’s growing project portfolio. Responsibilities will include compiling geologic datasets to assist the team in building three-dimensional models of geothermal reservoirs, literature research to help evaluate new and existing basins, acreage evaluation and prospect ranking, and finding novel ways to utilize Fervo’s large geologic datasets.

Responsibilities

  • Compilation of geologic, geochemical, and geophysical datasets to find novel ways to utilize Fervo’s large geoscience datasets.
  • Literature research to evaluate new and existing basins
  • GIS map making and management of geospatial geologic datasets
  • Analyze and interpret geoscience data to inform geologic models
  • Identify growth opportunities for Fervo’s development portfolio through greenfield and nearfield development opportunities and acquisitions. 
  • Assist with asset management, resource reserve estimates, and investment analysis/diligence.
  • Travel periodically to field sites (mostly in western US) as required

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in geology, geophysics, or related discipline
  • 2+ years of geologist or geo technician experience in the geothermal, mining, and/or oil & gas industries
  • High level of proficiency in GIS software (ArcGIS, Global Mapper)
  • Experience working with well data (well lithology logs, temperature logs, LAS files, etc.)
  • Driven self-starter & team player, willing to plan and execute with little oversight 
  • High attention to detail for data management, analysis, and documentation
  • Preferred: Master’s Degree in geology, geophysics, or related discipline 
  • Preferred: Experience in data analytics and geostatistics 
  • Preferred: Python coding experience

Location

Fervo Energy is headquartered in Houston, TX with growing offices in Oakland, CA, Golden, CO, Reno, NV, and Salt Lake City, UT. This position will be eligible for some hybrid work flexibility, but regular in-office presence at the Golden or Reno offices is preferred. Some travel is required for this position.

Expected Salary: $105,000 - $135,000 based on Colorado locality, pay in other locations may vary.
