Overview






SRI International is seeking a talented and motivated individual to join our team as a Carbon Capture Research Scientist/Engineer. The successful candidate will be an integral part of our Carbon and Water Management Laboratory, contributing to groundbreaking research in carbon capture technologies.

 

This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on innovative projects aimed at mitigating greenhouse gas emissions and advancing sustainable energy solutions.  We are refining pilot sclae processes for solvent based carbon capture technologies, with a goal to move to commercial scale.

 

This is an on-site position in Menlo Park, CA.  There will also be a significant portion of time spent collecting field data in Wilsonville, AL.









Responsibilities






  • Operate and collect data from solvent-based carbon capture systems at bench-scale and pilot scale.
  • Provide hands-on assistance with the commissioning, operation, and maintenance of pilot demonstration of CO2 capture units.
  • Develop and optimize carbon capture processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to advance research objectives and achieve project milestones.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and publications to disseminate research findings.
  • Assist in grant proposal writing, project management, and marketing efforts to secure funding and  promote research initiatives.








Qualifications






  • Advanced degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field plus 3 years experience (detail below)
  • Due to government requirements, US Citizenship is required.
  • Proven experience in designing and operating solvent-based carbon capture systems.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in experimental design and data analysis.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Experience in grant proposal writing and project management is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic research environment.
  • Prior involvement with CO2 capture technology development from concept to large scale implementation
  • More than 3 years of experience working with Process Flow Diagram (PFD) and Process & Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID) development, and HAZOP studies.
  • Familiar with various design codes & standards for CO2 capture technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and optimize CO2 capture processes.

 

The salary range is: $85,000 -$110,000/yr. Salary ranges will vary and are based on several factors, including geographic location, market competitiveness and equity amongst internal employees in similar roles. Positions may also qualify for SRI's Pay for Outstanding Performance program or the annual Performance Based Compensation program.
