Sunkeeper Solar designs and installs solar photovoltaics and battery energy storage in standalone and hybrid configurations to offset fossil fuel consumption, provide off- grid resiliency, and equip buildings to partake in the clean energy transition. Business Development Associate

Sunkeeper Solar’s Business Development Associate will play a key role in the sales process for solar photovoltaic (PV) and battery energy storage (BESS) projects in and around the New York Metropolitan Area. The ideal candidate will have 1-3 years’ experience in distributed generation, be interested to learn about renewable energy in New York City, and be excited to work in a dynamic environment, where you will get to see the results of what you put "on paper" firsthand.

Location: Office work will be performed in person in Sunkeeper's downtown Brooklyn office. This is an in-person position.

Responsibilities: Sunkeeper is a fast-paced and growing company, and applicants for the Business Development Associate position should be flexible and be prepared to get their hands dirty. Common responsibilities for the position will include:

  • Assisting Director of Business Development with the entire sales cycle, from inbound leads and outbound prospecting through to contract signing.
    • Qualifying and responding to inbound commercial & industrial customer leads
    • Negotiating pricing
    • Drafting proposals
    • Communicating with clients and partners
    • Completing Helioscope system designs
    • Reviewing proposals, contracts, and scopes of work
    • Generating presentations
  • Assisting in Marketing efforts
  • Managing internal CRM by keeping pipeline tracker up to date and accurate.
  • Participating in client meetings and calls.
  • Reviewing, drafting, and managing Sunkeeper’s RFP responses
  • Working collaboratively with the Project Management and Project Engineering teams to coordinate project handoffs after contract signing. 
  • Reviewing, documenting and presenting local, state and federal policies to internal stakeholders.

Reporting: Business Development Associates will report to the Director of Business Development.

Discretionary bonuses may be paid based on applicant's job performance on an annual basis.

Base Salary Range: $64,350.00 - $70,000.00 per year

First Year On Target Earnings (OTE) range: $75,000-$85,000

Growth Opportunities: Business Development Associates who successfully work with Sunkeeper for several years will have the ability to advance to more senior positions on the Business Development team, where they will be directly responsible for leading the entire sales process and managing a subset of Sunkeeper’s customer relationships. Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Familiarity with standard office software (MS Word, Excel, Gmail, etc.)
  • Ability to travel to job sites in the NYC metropolitan area
  • Physical requirements: While the position is primarily an office position, SKS is a construction company and part of learning the company’s work will include some field work. Applicants should be able to work outside during hot and cold weather, climb ladders, and be comfortable on new building construction sites without an elevator. The ideal candidate must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation
  • If applicant does not already have it, the applicant will be required to get their OSHA 30 & NYC 40-hour SST cards (Sunkeeper will pay for the classes)

Desired Skills, Certifications, & Experience: Preference will be given to applications possessing the following skills, experience, and certifications:

  • Past renewable energy sales or related experience
  • Persuasive and concise written & verbal communicator
  • Willingness to learn new ideas - particularly in the realms of renewable energy, construction, project financing, and the particulars of selling & developing solar and storage projects in NYC
  • Detail oriented and organized
  • Positive attitude and desire to work in person within a team 
  • Problem solver
